From Traditional to Trendsetting: My Journey to a Micro Wedding in Tuscany
If you were to ask me 10 years ago what my wedding would look like, I would have described a very traditional event. You know the type; a big, gorgeous venue, classic colors, 100+ guests, close to home & family. Not to say that's not still appealing, but as I've grown over the last decade, my dream wedding has too!
It's funny how things change, isn't it? My wedding is now a two-day extravaganza, a whopping 4,640 miles away from home, with half the usual number of guests, and non-traditional colors. And you know what? I am beyond excited about it!!
I never envisioned myself as a micro wedding bride, but as I reflect on the planning journey, it all just fell into place naturally and seamlessly. It almost feels like the micro wedding life chose me (how cheesy, right?!). But it's true!
I've come to realize that I only want to celebrate with those who are closest to me at this moment in my life. It's not about excluding anyone or lacking love for those beyond the guest list, but about wanting deep connections and meaningful relationships around me on this special day. I want to truly feel the love and have quality time with each person there. The thought of having all my nearest and dearest surrounding my partner and I on our wedding day gives me goosebumps. It's about celebrating not just our marriage, but each other, the beauty of life, and the relationships we hold dear.
The day I asked my girls to live out the Lizzie McGuire dream with me!
Our venue is a dream come true for me. Italy has held a special place in my heart for years, so having our wedding there feels incredibly right. That's one of the perks of having a micro wedding - you can choose a location that truly resonates with you. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine saying "I Do" in an 800-year-old castle in the picturesque valleys of Tuscany. But when you have a smaller guest count, you can make incredible things happen with your budget. It's a decision that feels authentic and perfect for my partner and I. As Lizzie McGuire says, "This is what dreams are made of!"
Planning a wedding in a Castle in Tuscany has been exhilarating to say the least. The charm, history, and beauty of the location have inspired me to make every aspect of my wedding unique and personalized to fit my personality. One of the decisions that I made that truly sets my wedding apart is my choice of flower colors.
Typically, when you imagine a wedding in a castle, you might picture classic white and green flowers, with the bridal party dressed in neutral colors. However, I wanted to shake things up a bit. Instead of following the traditional route, I opted for bold and vibrant colors. I wanted my wedding to be a celebration of colors, with bright pinks, blues, purples, and yellows. I decided that each of my bridesmaids would wear a different colored dress to add a fun, cheerful, and creative touch to the event, reflecting my personality.
Seeing the venue in person for the first time!
As I look back on all the decisions I've made for my wedding, I realize that each choice has been a reflection of my unique style and personality. I believe that there is no right or wrong way to plan a wedding, as each person has their own vision, taste, and dreams for their special day. What's important is that the event reflects who you are as a couple and feels authentic to you.
I encourage all brides to stay true to themselves when planning their wedding, focusing on what feels right for them and their partner. Your wedding day should be a reflection of your love story and your individuality. Embrace your uniqueness, follow your heart, and create a day that truly represents you! After all, this event is for you, by you, and should be a celebration of everything that makes you and your partner special!
Con Amore e Arrivederci,
xx Caroline
